If you are a follower of the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. If you have believed by faith that He is the Christ - the Son of God - The Author and Perfector of your salvation from the righteous judgment of God for your sins – then you have a calling.
First, God has called those whom He redeems by Grace through Faith. 2 Timothy 1:9 tells us that God the Father- “… saved us and called us with a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace"
Second, God tells us that all of us who have called on His name, shall be saved- Romans 10:13 "For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved'".
Third, God has a calling on the life of everyone who has been saved through faith in Christ Jesus- To love God. To love our neighbor. To love one another. To be holy, for He is holy. To make disciples. In summary, as we read in Ephesians 4:1, “ I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.”
The challenge is being bold enough, brave enough, to do that. We may all struggle with fear of rejection, fear of ridicule, or fear of persecution at times. And in fact, all of those things will happen at times. In today’s message we are going to see from God’s Word a real-life example of overcoming those fears, and consider some practical encouragement from God’s Word to help us all overcome our fears to follow our calling!
