Are You Sure About that God?

Ananias, a Damascus believer is tapped by God to bring Saul the Persecutor to the family of God, and his response was, “You’ve got to be kidding God!”  Saul is an enemy of Christianity.  He’s here to persecute!  Some days bring big surprises!  Who would have thought that when the morning dawned today that Ananias and Saul would be hugging instead of fighting?  If Saul was the must unlikely convert, Ananias was a most unwilling witness.  Some people think that God made a mistake when He made them!  If you had created the universe, what would you have done differently?  Why allow sin in the first place?  Why did God do things the way that he did?  Because He loves us.  Jn 3:16. Love, by definition, requires a choice. Love is risky.  God’s love meant that we can reject Him! The Bible teaches God is perfect and therefore incapable of mistakes.

When God’s Guidance Seems Mistaken 10-16

I can think of a dozen reasons Ananias should not have gone to Saul God’s chooses the most unlikely people to receive His blessings 1 Corinthians 1:27-28 “God has chosen the foolish things…”

Saul had been attempting to stamp out the name of Jesus

God uses the most unlikely people to do His bidding.

Now his mission would be to bring Jesus name to the Gentiles

He had been a persecutor, inflicting pain on believers

Now he would be the focus of persecution

Can you imagine Ananias meeting with the Elders of the church?

When People of Faith Bewilder Us  17-18

A Christians do some bewildering things Ananias Cared about Saul!

#1  He called him his Brother

#2  He laid his Hands on him in love

He was healed

He was filled with the Spirit

#3  He introduced him to the family in Damascus Loving your enemy is beyond comprehension

When Conversion Confounds Us  19-22

Changed lives are a powerful argument for Christianity Two responses of an unbelieving world #1  Amazement  #2  Confoundment We cannot fathom what God can do When a conversion occurs the world is amazed.  The world can not quite fathom what God can do for the individual.  There is no argument more powerful than a changed life.  Christianity has the answers to life’s questions.  Saul’s Story reminds me that God most certainly knows what he’s about.  God doesn’t make mistakes.  God does have a master plan.  God can be trusted.  And although I may be completely in the dark about the answers to my questions, I know one thing for sure: I can trust His wisdom.  And I will.
