Most people do okay with concepts in scripture where God declares His love and offers of salvation for mankind. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." The bible tells us. 

Some of our ealiest memories as church kids was learning the song that told us "Jesus love me this I know, for the bible tells me so."

These things are well, good and true. But scripture contains some far more difficult teachings and Jesus declared some far harder things to understand for us to wrestle with. 

^"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day." Jesus declares in John 6:44

"I am the bread of Life" He declares, and  then this, "So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day." John 6:53-54 

We dare not avoid these passages -"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

How do we reconcile passages that talk of God's love and mercy and passages that tell us no one can come to Jesus unless God the Father permits it?

How do we balance God's sovereignty and man's responsibility? 

What do we do with a passage that tells us to eat the flesh of Jesus and drink His blood?

The answer: We consult scripture. Where we know that God cannot lie and His words are the words of life. I pray you join us in this message with ears open to hear the truth and that you will be drawn ever closer to our Lord through the hearing of His word!
